Sourcing is Dead to Me

 

The winner of the Innovations in Sourcing Award is HERE Technologies for an internal sourcing transformation project.

 

Project Description

 

We were not strategic with our approach to global sourcing and customers complained about how difficult it was to do business with HERE. This had to change.

 

Traditionally, sourcing was involved more tactically on the back-end of the process with a lack of accountability and clarity on roles and responsibilities.

 

We focused on three tenants – operational excellence, transformation and innovation. Our strategy: drive savings while generating new ideas and introducing technology that would streamline and automate our processes.

 

We made numerous achievements: on-boarded a new team; introduced new tools and technology; eliminated shadow procurement activities; saved millions of dollars; and, most importantly, increased customer satisfaction.

 

A renewed energy and focus can be seen throughout the organization. We are now recognized as a trusted partner across the company based on our outcomes.
