Lawrence’s Biography
Lawrence is responsible for Strategic Sourcing Functional Excellence in IT. One of two Boeing Designated Experts in the company, he was instrumental in earning the prestigious Global Excellence in Outsourcing award from IAOP. A member of the SIG University Advisory Board and IAOP Think Tank, he helped create many of the industry’s leading practices and regularly advances thought leadership in strategic sourcing and procurement at industry conferences. He has saved more than $2.9B by architecting sourcing strategies, designing full sourcing lifecycle management processes and tools, conducting procurements, negotiating with suppliers, and benchmarking resultant contracts. He is also the bestselling author of 17 books.
Accomplishments to Highlight:
- Created the IT infrastructure sourcing office and vendor management programs at Boeing. The team’s world-class capabilities were recognized with a GEO award from IAOP in 2018.
- Led the first successful multi-sourcing effort at a Fortune® 50-sized company, subsequently completing a variety of complex multi-supplier ITO and BPO transitions, all while assuring seamless service delivery despite significant changes in suppliers and sourcing mix.
- Collaborated with senior practitioners across multiple industries to improve decision-making, define process maturity standards, and advance thought leadership as a member of the SIG University Advisory Board, SIG Innovation Accelerator, IAOP Training & Certification Committee, IAOP Think Tank, and Forrester Sourcing & Vendor Management Leadership Board.
- Contributing author to Strategic Sourcing in the New Economy, Unpacking Collaborative Bidding, and the Outsourcing Professional Body of Knowledge.
- Developed strong leaders and improved organizational capabilities by mentoring sourcing and procurement personnel, teaching the IAOP Outsourcing Master Class and Governance Workshop, creating a SOW writing class, and coaching IT managers in their transition from supervising employees to governing supplier relationships.
- Performed non-advocate reviews that identified and corrected challenging contract and relationship issues with key suppliers and internal service delivery organizations.
- Reduced the risk of high value ITO and BPO events by designing a non-advocate review process and auditing SOWs, SLAs, pricing schema, and contract Terms & Conditions prior to release.
