The Value of Women and Diversity in Global Procurement

If there’s a part of any company that ought to understand the value – the business value – of diversity, it’s procurement. Buyers have to build relationships with a cast of characters, both suppliers and internal clients, who have very different objectives, vision, culture and modes of communication. And that cast seems to get bigger and more diverse all the time. It’s more than any one person, or any one kind of person, can handle.

Tell us about your career path. How did you get into this field? Was it purposeful or by accident? 
 
I have been part of the Virtual Operations team as Process Excellence Lead since 2016, prior to which my career had followed an admittedly unusual path from its beginnings in applied physics, via operational excellence consulting.

I created my mission and vision early on and use it as a guidepost for my career choices. My career goal is to ensure that people understand the value of sustainability when making financial decisions. Whether I’m dealing with one person, or hundreds of people, I strive to have a positive impact.
