The Candidate Experience Kaleidoscope: How an MSP Can Help Improve Talent Sourcing & Engagement
Today’s talent landscape is becoming more driven by contingent workers; in some organizations, the number of contingent workers already outpaces full-time employees. It’s no surprise then that the pressure on talent suppliers to deliver is high. If staffing suppliers cannot facilitate successful placements at scale, then the revolving door of talent will continue to swing causing companies to waste time, money and resource on endless staffing.

Lessons Learned in Managing Security Risk when Outsourcing Services

It seems that I have reached a point in my career where I have to acknowledge that I am not one of the young guys anymore. As I support my customers and assess the state of their Risk Management capabilities, I continue to find that I rarely see issues that I have not seen before. I guess that is the benefit of having worked in this field for a couple of decades. But it is also an indication that the lessons that are being learned in one segment of industry are not becoming common practice in other segments.

Software Surplus! Over-Subscription Could Be Costing Your Company Millions
Sourcing professionals know that companies make significant investments in software to run and drive their businesses. They see first-hand how software subscription costs might run as high as hundreds of millions of dollars annually. Yes, the Office of the Chief Technology Officer and various business units collaborate to determine what software is needed, but typically it’s the procurement office that makes the purchase, and employees that use the software. Therein lies the problem.

Procurement Risk – Limited Visibility of the Supply Chain

A few weeks ago, I reviewed the 2018 Deloitte Global Chief Procurement Officer Survey and was not surprised that cost reduction, new products/market development and managing risks remain the top three business strategies for procurement. Sixty-five percent (65%) of procurement leaders report having limited or no visibility beyond their Tier 1 suppliers.

Is it time for an eSourcing solution functionality reality check?

Is it time for an eSourcing solution functionality reality check?
As a rule of thumb, there is a list of 10 questions that every procurement team should ask at all solution provider demos. Some of them you’d probably expect, like questions about integration and the administration of configuration settings. Others you might not have thought of, for instance asking to what degree the company “takes their own medicine” by using the technology themselves.

U.S. vs. U.K.: Will employees “fight or flight” when facing economic uncertainty?
The human tendency in the face of economic uncertainty is, understandably, to cling to a role out of fear of being last-in, first-out elsewhere. With flip-flopping headlines in the U.S. giving workers whiplash – one day the market sentiment is bull, the next it’s bear – worker anxiety is manifesting in the labor market as expected: employees are staying put and prioritizing job security.

Sourcing Star Interview: Jerry Durant

How did you get into this field – was it purposeful or by accident?

Quite by accident. In 1985 a long standing customer approached us to find resources to maintain one of their legacy applications. Through the course of discussion about resource and annual costs we jointly reached the conclusion that finding foreign resources might be a solution.  After deliberations, bid proposals, visitations and indepth reviews it was concluded to offshore the application to Calcutta.

Innovations in Talent Management: Cambridge Health Alliance

Can you outline why your team embarked on this project and the problem that needed to be solved?

This initiative started in response to the need to develop a Supply Chain Analytics team. Cambridge Health Alliance leadership realized the potential of better managing vast amount of supply chain data. The Senior director of Supply Chain Management drafted a proposal to begin implementing analysts to work with the data and identify cost savings and utilization improvements for the organization.

How did you get into this field – was it purposeful or by accident?
As a recruiter, I loved paying attention to sourcing trends and was always curious on what channels and job boards worked best for finding and attracting talent. I found in staffing that marketing channel metrics were not practiced very well, often not at all. It was my curiosity and thirst for data that got me into it and my passion for analysis and optimization that made it a career for me.

Innovations in Governance & Compliance: E*TRADE Financial Corporation

Can you outline why your team embarked on this project and the problem that needed to be solved?

Our Procurement team took over the process to identify vendor inherent risk from our Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) group. The process we acquired was driven by email and shared drive folders. We were receiving an average of 70 emails per week, and this manual, high volume process was ripe for human error.
