I don’t gamble very often. When I do, I tend to lose. These two facts established, you can probably guess that I spend very little time in casinos. When I do venture into one, however, I’m there for hours. Why, you ask? We’ve already recognized that card games are no friend of mine. No, I tend to linger because of how casino floor plans are designed. Casinos are built to keep people in, entertained and gambling – this comes as a surprise to no one.

Posted: 10/16/2018 - 03:43
Most procurement organizations lack the necessary data to make decisions about their services spend. The fundamental reason for the gap between the data they have and the data they need is that it is buried in documents. As a result, there is a desperate need for deeper visibility into services spend in most organizations. For too long, spend analytics have only provided details at the aggregate level and in many cases the data is not accurate. The marketplace consistently wants to better understand this part of the business to gain greater insight.

Caller ID: A Simple Feature with Complex Effects

We’ve all been there: you pick up an incoming call to hear silence...or a request for personal information...or a recorded message...only to regret picking up the call. But you’ve also probably been on the other side: you’ve ignored a call from a number you don’t recognize only to find out it was the delivery driver looking to validate your address...the bank calling to let you know there has been suspicious activity on your card...or the doctor calling with updates from your last appointment.

Time to Worry about your Software Supply Chain?

Posted: 10/09/2018 - 00:07
Software has become crucial to every industry. Yet ensuring the software system you are buying or licensing is authentic and free from defect or malware is a challenge. The QA procedure in old-school manufacturing is to test a random set of newly delivered widgets for their compliance with approved specifications. But you can’t really take the same simple approach with software.

Outsourcing: Agile Culture in Business

Posted: 10/08/2018 - 21:57
recent study by McKinsey and the University of Oxford on 5,000 large IT projects showed that 17 percent go so poorly that they threaten the very existence of the company. In addition, over half go massively over budget and deliver 56 percent less value than predicted. An example of this is finding a home listed for $250,000, paying $275,000, and moving in to find that it is really only worth $125,000.
